Room Details

All rooms have a welcome tray with the usual beverages, kettle, bottled mineral water, bowl of sweets, hair drier, 20" freeview flat-screen television with built in DVD player, and digital radio. All are en-suite, with excellent showers but no baths. Good quality toilets, wash hand basins, nice fluffy bath and hand towels, and a bath mat, along with all of the usual soaps and accessories are provided for your use. A mirror and light with shaving point is located above each basin. With the exception of room five, all others have ceiling fans fitted, to keep you comfortable on those balmy summer evenings. All of the bedroom windows have black out blinds hung behind the curtains, to help you sleep soundly on those long, light, summer nights.

The four upper floor rooms are described first, followed by the downstairs accommodation.

Room No. 1

This is the largest twin room, with plenty of light, and cheerful wallpaper. It overlooks the east side of the house towards a hillside where mountain ash trees (rowan) flourish, along with other vegetation. From the window, you may see roe and red deer grazing peacefully, particularly in the early mornings and late evenings, on the green, grassy slopes outside.

With two very comfy beds and nice white cotton sheets, cosy duvets, and bounce back pillows, you should feel very stress-free here. There are two comfortable arm chairs, a dressing table with six drawers and a free standing mirror, as well as a double wall lamp set directly above the mirror, two three drawer bedside cabinets and a built in wardrobe. There is ample space to pack away all of your belongings, so you are well set for a relaxing stay.

Room No. 2

This bright, airy, roomy, double, painted with a hint of green, is kitted out with a cosy luxurious double bed, bouncy pillows and duvet, to keep you warm, and two very comfortable armchairs. A built in wardrobe and a chest with five drawers, gives plenty of storage space. Individually mounted on the wall above the bed, are switched reading lights. Look out the large window on to the hillside at the rear of the house, and you may, if you are lucky, see the occasional badger or fox, but more frequently, red and roe deer grazing leisurely amongst the trees and bushes growing there.

Room No. 5

This room is a lovely, light filled, wall papered, single. It contains a very restful single bed, with cotton sheets, duvet, comforting pillows, and snug tub chair. A four drawer dressing table with free standing vanity mirror, one three drawer bedside cabinet with a touch switch bedside lamp, and a built in wardrobe gives plenty of room to store your belongings. You can be assured of a good nights rest in this bedroom, which has a wonderful view over Lochinver Harbour towards the Western Isles. Out of the window you can watch the fishing boats, yachts, and other crafts, going about their business, whilst you leisurely sip a wee dram or other beverage.
Room five is excellent and very comfortable for a single, for as long a stay as required.

Room No. 6

A fine room boasting two windows giving superb views towards the harbour and over Lochinver bay. Spacious and very homely indeed, you will enjoy staying here. A double bed, with cotton sheets, a cosy duvet, and comfy pillows all make for a restful night. Two three drawer bedside cabinets and two bedside lights, along with a three drawer dressing table, two vanity mirrors, chest of five drawers, built in roomy wardrobe, small table, and an additional table lamp, add up to making this room a real treat. Relaxing here on the twin seat settee, while watching your favourite programme on the TV, or just gazing out at the view, will help to make your stay at Polcraig a really memorable one.

Room No. 3

Another very bright twin en-suite room, wall papered/painted with a hint of green, with matching bed covers and curtains, has a view up the hillside to the rear of the house. Almost identical to room No 2, it is kitted out and equipped in exactly the same manner, so there is no need to repeat what has already been said. From here, although the outlook is not quite so panoramic due to the rising hillside outside, you can also see whatever wildlife appears from time to time. A very cosy, comfortable room, which gets lots of sunlight beaming through the window on nice summer mornings.

Room No. 4

A lovely bright and fresh double, which has a window looking out towards the grassy rowan clad hillside to the east side of the house. This is a favourite spot for the deer, which frequent that slope regularly throughout the whole year. Spacious enough, it is kitted out with a very inviting double bed, matching duvet covers, pillowcases and curtains, all for your comfort. Added to this are two restful tub chairs where you can relax at ease, whilst watching TV, listening to the radio, or just quietly enjoy the tranquillity. For cargo space there is a built in wardrobe, a chest with four drawers, and two three drawer bedside cabinets. Above the bed are two individually switched wall lights for your additional comfort.

Dining Room

Our bright and cheerful dining room, incorporating a local wildlife theme, is set out in tables for two so you can enjoy your own company, or if you prefer, banter with the other diners present. Listen to the best of Scottish music playing softly in the background, and help yourself to a selection of cereals, fruits, yoghurt, juices, and freshly brewed coffee from the percolator, whilst waiting for the breakfast of your choice to be served.

The hope is for good weather, but in the event of rain, the secure basement presents you with an excellent area for changing out of your wet gear, and spreading it out to dry on the hangers above the heating unit. Any other equipment which you have can also be stored in this room, including your suitcases if you so wish, and for cyclists your bicycles. There is plenty of space for everything here.
